Today was my official last day of work before I fly up to Ohio for Jackie’s wedding! Yippee! I was sad, however, that I had to drop Atlas off at boarding for 5 days. It’s like a mother letting go of her child, I swear! I’m so attached, it’s unreal 🙂 Anyhow, I managed to let him run off to the daycare people he loves so much (without even turning around to look at me!!) and got to thinking about today’s wedding-inspired post.
Before our wedding last May, I found myself wanting something to commemorate our big day that we could hang in our home for the years to come.
A picture frame with our (non-existant) engagement photo surrounded by messages from attendees? No. A little overdone for my taste.
A photo canvas of one of our wedding pictures for above our bed? A little to personal if we have guests over.
A huge collage of our faces on the entry-way hallway? Yikes. Not a chance.
So after many options coming and going, I finally settled on it. A canvas with a tree where, within the leaves, our guests could sign their name and leave a little message.
It was perfect! Personal enough because we would be the only ones who would be able to read it as it hung in our bedroom, but artsy enough to fit into our decor without screaming “LOOK! I’M A PRODUCT OF THEIR MARRIAGE! LOOK HOW GREAT THEY ARE!”
A great friend of mine made up two art pieces for our home that were perfect, in the same way, too. The first was two white wooden letters with and ampersand in the middle. The second was an addition to our OSU themed office with the silhouette of the state of Ohio and our first names and last name within the shape. As soon as hubs sends me the pictures of them I’ll post them. Super amazing artwork!
Leave me a comment with the unique wedding artwork that you had at your wedding or what you’re making for a friend! I’d love to compile more ideas!
