GWC Day 42 – Projects

Happy Sunday everyone!

Today was a rest day for BodyRocking, but I did take my babies on our normal 3 mile walk in the morning.

Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful day, filled with starting our renovation of our on-suite garage laundry room! Pictures will come soon! Here’s a few “before” shots for now and a completed “after” set of photos will be coming your way this weekend!

Enjoy your week!

GWC Day 41 – Rewards + Recipe

It’s the WEEKEND!!!! Yea Buddy!

So on Thursday I shared with you all that I had met my first overall goal of my Goal Weight Challenge which was to run a 5K without stopping. I’m not going to lie, I was terrified that it was a fluke occurrence and I wouldn’t be able to keep it up, but I am happy to announce that I did it again today!!!!

So this morning, I got up extra early to knock out Day 5 of the BodyRock Challenge, and holy arm death! Push-ups, push-ups, and more push-ups left my arms burning so what would be the most logical solution? Go for a run!

Yep. I headed right outside to clock my miles. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go since my legs are sore from all of my workouts plus running, not to mention the hilly terrain near my house, but I figured “what the hell…might as well try.”

An lo and behold, BOOM! Beast-mode kicked in and I kicked my 5Ks butt again today! My time was a bit slower (35 mins) but besides the many inclines, I stopped to give some love to an adorable blue nose pitbull that lives in my complex who gave me the biggest bear hug ever!!! So adorbs!

So after all my workouts and the worlds best shower, I ran a few errands. Now as most of you know, I’ve been trying to be frugal non-existent when it comes to shopping for myself, but I really felt I deserved a reward for all of my hard work in the past 40 days! I mean, come on, I went from zero miles a day to running for 35 minutes without stopping!

Normally, I would have treated myself with food, but figuring that to be ultimately counterproductive, and noticing that Target had a Buy One, Get One for 50% off all C9 workout gear, I treated myself to these!

So cute, right?! I totally plan on hiiting Day 6 of the BodyRock Challenge tonight wearing one! That’s right, 3 workouts in 1 day! I’m crazy pumped….

Anywho, I mentioned last night that I was bringing you guys a new recipe, so here it is!

Whole Wheat Banana Bread

3 ripe bananas
2 eggs
1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar (if you use vanilla flavored yogurt, you can probably omit this…)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (I forgot to put mine in! GAAAHHHHH!!!)
1.5 cups whole wheat flour

1. Preheat oven to 350 and spray a loaf pan with nonstick spray.
2. Using an electric mixer, beat together the bananas, eggs, yogurt, vanilla, and sugar (if using) until creamy.
3. In a separate bowl, combine salt, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and flour and stir to combine.
4. Add dry ingredients into wet ingredients and mix just until moistened. Lumps are ok! Don’t over mix it or it’ll get tough when baked!
5. Pour batter into your loaf pan and bake for 45 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
6. Let cool on a cooling rack, then slice and enjoy with some natural peanut butter, some strawberry jam, or just by itself!

This bread is so moist and so yummy! Try it sometime this week!

GWC Day 40 – Sick Pup

Happy Friday guys! Have you been getting your workouts in this week? Sticking to your goals?

Today I had full intentions of knocking out my Day 5 BodyRock workout, but I came home to a sick Atlas, so we went on a 4 mile walk until he was able to get all his yuckies out of his system.

Then, Jeff came home before dinner time, so I was going to take advantage of that and do my workout, but Atlas continued to have an upset tummy almost all evening….so it didn’t get done…

Tomorrow morning as soon as I get up, it’s ON!

Have a great weekend guys! Tomorrow I’ll be bringing you a new healthy recipe so be on the lookout!

GWC Day 39 – First Goal Reached!

Oh my goodness you guys! Guess what?!

I did it!!! I ran a 5K without stopping! This turtle is getting faster and stronger! I can’t believe it!

I still have a lot of work to do, but I’m on such a high knowing that I did this without feeling like my legs were falling off or my lungs were about to collapse. You could almost say I *gasp* liked it!

When I got home, I completed my Day 4 BodyRock workout and even made my Raw Brownies, but in Power Ball form! For the recipe, check out this post.

Short, sweet, and to the point. Just so excited!!

GWC Day 38 – Goal Modification

Hellllooooooooo there! It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means!

Day 3 of the 21 Day Challenge!

Today was short and sweet, but sweaty as ever. I can totally see/feel some minor results coming from my duel training sessions, but my scale isn’t budging.

I mean….I totally didn’t weigh myself today….

But anyways, I am starting to see a bit of definition in my arms again. Baby biceps, if you will…

Don’t mind the pup napping in the background….we had just gotten in from a 5.22 mile power walk with his sister through the park! 1 hour and 15 mins with an average pace of 14:27 and a 647 calorie burn? I’ll take it! Let’s just say leg day killed me yesterday and I decided to “take it easy” today…HA!

Now here’s what I’m really excited about: I can officially do some “toe push-ups” instead of having to do all knee-push-ups like I used to! Now, mind you, I can totally beast mode my knee push-ups, but for more of a challenge, I do the traditional ones as much as I can.

So with the addition of BodyRock to my daily training, I decided to modify one of my goals (#4) since I saw myself getting off track from my previous goals for this month.

New Goal (#4) for Month 2 of the GWC

Eat mostly produce/lean protein based meals with treats that can only include a “split-indulgence”

What’s a split indulgence, you ask? It’s a treat that also has big health benefits; i.e. My PB Cup Brownies or Banana dipped in 2 oz. Dark Chocolate, etc.

This way, I will still feel like I’m indulging, but know that I’m not totally falling off the wagon like I did on Sunday when Jeff bought us each a Cadbury Egg….whoops!

What is your favorite split indulgence?? Please Share them in the Comment Section!!

P.S. I totally made an amazing leftover remake meal yesterday. I took 3 leftover grilled boneless, skinless chicken thighs and 1 cup of grilled potato cubes and pulsed them in my food processor with one egg. Then I formed small patties of the mix and lightly sautéed them in a small amount of canola oil until they were crisp on the outside and warmed through. I ate it with some homemade BBQ sauce and they were delish! Try it!

GWC Day 37 – Jello Butt

Holy Hell guys! My butt is on FIRE!!! Want to know why?

BodyRock 21 Day Bootcamp Challenge Day 2

That’s Why.

You know that feeling when you’ve worked your legs really hard in your workout and you feel as if you can’t walk correctly? That’s “Jello Legs”.

Well I’ve got “Jello Butt”. Never in my life would I have thought of referring to my derrière as a “Jello Butt” in a good way. But alas, I have “Jello Butt” going on. Tonight, walking up stairs is super hard. As in, I have to take a break and wish I had one of those wall-mounted chair escalators in my house. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, look at this. Ellen shows it off perfectly!)

I am becoming obsessed with these BodyRock workouts! Not only because I know they are supplementing my running (I did my 5K today pushing the stroller in 35 minutes! Woohoo!!), but because I am sweating so hard it is dripping off me. Attractive , I know. But it is a mood booster knowing that even thought I can’t do all of the moves like Lisa does on the screen, I am still putting in my best effort and my body sweating profusely proves it!

GWC Day 36 – Rest Day? What Rest?

Hey guys! So today I was going to take a rest day to let my legs relax before starting up my training yet again. Of course, the 21 Day Bootcamp Challenge I signed up for started today! So needless to say, there are no rest days for me in sight!

This workout kicked my rear and I was sweating like crazy but it was awesome!!! Check it out!

GWC Days 34 & 35 – Race Weekend!

Hey guys! This weekend was race weekend so it got a little busy, but here’s how it went!

Pre-Race Warm Ups
Nothing like doing Zumba-esque moves at 5:45 in the morning. I chose to take photos instead of participate….doing 50 squats before running didn’t seem like a good idea for me.

Pre-Race Selfies!
I signed up with a friend of mine who ran the 15K. This was before I started my run. Notice: no makeup, wild hair in a ponytail, and headphones in. The girl who started next to me in my corral definitely had her pin-up style makeup done perfectly and hair teased….someone didn’t get the whole “you’re about to run 3 miles” memo…

The Start Line!
It took me 21 minutes to get to this point.

I finished! Now give me some CHOCOLATE!

Official Race Results

So I didn’t achieve my under 34 minute time like I wanted, but having started so far back in the crowd, I got stuck behind tons of people walking and standing in the way. There was also a big hill I had to power walk halfway up because my legs were just not having it. Besides that though, I ran the rest and am proud of myself! It’s still my fastest race time (best in Florida was 39 minutes….turtle-pace)

So what do I have to say to that? Bring on the next race!

And for anyone interested, I will be partaking in the BodyRock.Tv 21 Day Bootcamp Challenge starting today! Join me!

GWC Day 33 – The 3 “P’s”

Happy Friday everyone!!! I hope you had a motivational, uplifting week this week and are ready for the weekend! Plan something fun and active to work into your relaxation times. Shhhh…Don’t tell Jeff, but I’m planning a surprise full day of fun for us tomorrow!!

Before I forget as well, today I skipped my workout in favor for a day full of stretching to prepare for a light run tomorrow and my race on Sunday! Wish me luck!

So onto the 3 “P’s”: Playful Ponytails, Polka Dots, and Puppies!

So really, this post is about how to get a cute and curly ponytail, but if you want more info about polka dots check out this post and if you love my puppies as much as I do, take a look at this or this to get your fill. I know, I know, it’s ok to admit it; Atlas and Rhea are the cutest 😉

Alright, back to topic at hand.

And just so we are clear here, I’m really trying my best not to be narcissistic, I just really wanted to share this with you! I think selfies are embarrassing, but kind of necessary for a post about my hair.

So I saw a video link on Pinterest a few weeks ago and wanted to try it out tonight since I had dinner with a friend of mine. I can’t seem to find the original pin now – Grrrrrrr – but this video shows the same idea…

Now, a little insight; my hair is about three days dirty. I’m blessed to have really thick hair that doesn’t require washing but every few days. If I do it more often it gets dry and frizzy so don’t go all “eeeewwww, you’re disgusting!” on me. I still shower daily, people!

The whole “curl your hair in a pony and then let it down” thing did not work for me but I think it’s because I did not start with straight hair to begin with. My hair has been in a perpetual top knot for the past two days so it was kinked and knotty. Still, though, I think keeping it in a high, playful pony looked polished and perfect for a fun night out with friends!

Side note: I forgot to take pictures at the beginning of the evening so quite a bit of the curl fell out…I promise to do this again next week and take better pics!!

Try it out and let me know how it goes for you….and if you’re a guy and still reading this, find a female friend to share this with so you don’t feel awkward about continuing to read to this point all about women’s hair….your secret is safe with me 😉

GWC Day 32 – Owned It!

Ok. Got that out of the way.

Why so excited? I kicked my 5K’s butt today!! Like, kicked it so hard that it ran away crying! Well, that’s a little outlandish but you know what I mean.

How great is that poster?!?! Ever feel like that after a great workout? I definitely did today!

So I left the house early today so I could swing by my favorite running spot for a 5K practice run before work. I decided to just run as long as I could and walk when needed, just to get an idea of where I will be Sunday for my race. I not only walked less than a quarter mile the whole time (which was mostly filled with butt kickers to shake out my knees), but I ran my fastest 5K EVER!!!

My final time was 34:27 with a 10:45 pace! I’ve never run under a 39 minute 5K!!! I know, I’m a turtle runner, but today I felt LEGIT!

I am so excited for this weekend’s run even more and my goal is to run under a 34 minute race or at a 10:30 pace, depending on the terrain and the foot traffic since I put myself down for a 14 minute/mile corral start….whoops!

After my awesome run, I decided to go for a slow, stretch-inducing walk/picnic in the park with the little one, bringing my mile total to 5.7 miles today!

Let’s here it for sticking to/achieving goals!!!!!

P.S. I caved yesterday and weighed myself in the morning even after I said I was done doing daily weigh-ins and guess what showed up….144.8….a day late….stupid scale.
