Cali Travel Pt. 4: 59-Mile Scenic Drive, Episode 2

So I posted last Saturday about our start of the 59-Mile scenic drive. We continued this week and found so many cool things! A visit to UCSD was filled with whimsy, La Jolla was beautiful, the Aquarium was awesome, and driving through three parts of town produced amazingly large homes and beautiful ocean views along with some gliders!

Cali Travels Pt. 3: 59-Mile Scenic Drive, Episode 1

Happy Weekend everyone!

This week was quite a doozy, making it difficult to do anything but catch up on sleep early each night šŸ™‚

Today Jeff and I started our first episode of driving/touring the 59-Mile Scenic Drive around San Diego. This ride is a great way to hit a whole bunch of hot spots around San Diego. You start at the pier downtown and the visitors center sells the self-guided tour packet with directions for 50 cents. You could avoid paying the cost, though, if you want to print it from their website found here.

Here are some pictures from today. If you look at the website link above, we did stops 1-7 today since we spent so much time at the tide pools and Cabrillo National Monument.

Cali Travel Pt. 2: Belmont Park

Hidden in an ocean town near Point Loma, California is an amazing little theme/water park called Belmont Park. Picture your favorite summer carnival year round. There’s a merry-go-round, an old wooden roller coaster, and a putt-putt golf course among many other rides and attractions. Here’s how our day went:

Restaurant: Cannonball Sushi (highly recommended by us! Get the Lobster Roll and the Grilled Scallops!)

I hope you all have had a great weekend so far! I’m having my cupcake tasting here at the complex, so wish me luck! Be on the lookout for a fun recipe tomorrow or an update on how the tasting went!!

Cali Travel Part 1: Mount Soledad

Hi friends! I wanted to clue you in on a new trend for The Wife Life:

Most Saturdays will now be Cali Travel Part (1,2,3,4….1000000) posts!!

This is mainly because Atlas has officially started at his new daycare for Saturday day play and is gone from 9-3 every Saturday and is so tired when he gets home, he looks like this…

Great, huh? A worn out pup is a happy pup, right?

Anyways, because he is pretty much taken care of each Saturday, Jeff and I have vowed that we will do something fun together to get to know California. Whether it be dining out with friends, taking in the local sights here in San Diego, or taking a half-day trip, we will (or I will…) be sharing with you all of our experiences!

I highly encourage you all to make a committment to your significant other that involves spending some quality time together. What you do doesn’t have to cost you any money at all, it’s just about being together. And isn’t that the reason you’re with your sig.fig/hubby/wife/bf/gf anyways?

So I present to you all my first Cali adventure with Jeff to Mount Soledad. Before I show you guys all of our awesome pictures from our adventure to watch the sun set over San Diego, let me give you a little background info:

Mt. Soledad is home to a 360 degree view of San Diego as well as a monument to honor those who have fallen while serving our nation. Donors can give money to have their loved ones picture and story put up on the wall to be seen by visitors. It really is an amazing sight to see.

The View:

We went up and waited for the sunset. It’s supposed to be one of the most beautiful locations to watch the sun go down over San Diego. Our Sunset, however, looked like this….

Obviously the marine layer/fog prevented us from actually getting to see it, but it was worth it nonetheless!

Get out there and explore your state. Tell me about your favorite place or a time you spent with your loved ones. Sharing is caring!
