Hey guys! Before we head to church this morning, I wanted to wish you all a very happy Easter! I hope you get to spend your day surrounded by family and friends and eat lots of delicious Easter meals and candy!
I tried my hand at making deviled eggs today and they turned out great, so I wanted to share them with you all. They are not low-fat by any means, but hey, you’ve got to splurge sometimes right?
I bring to you….
Blue Cheese Bacon Deviled Eggs
from: Mixing Food & Family
– 6 hard boiled eggs, peeled, halved, and yolks removed
– 1/4 cup mayonnaise
– 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
– 2 tablespoons blue cheese crumbles
– 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
– 3 pieces of bacon, crumbled or in pieces
1. In a small bowl, mash egg yolks and all ingredients besides bacon.
2. Spoon back into egg whites and top with blue cheese and bacon.
Eat them before they all disappear!
Hey guys! This weekend was race weekend so it got a little busy, but here’s how it went!
Pre-Race Warm Ups
Nothing like doing Zumba-esque moves at 5:45 in the morning. I chose to take photos instead of participate….doing 50 squats before running didn’t seem like a good idea for me.
I signed up with a friend of mine who ran the 15K. This was before I started my run. Notice: no makeup, wild hair in a ponytail, and headphones in. The girl who started next to me in my corral definitely had her pin-up style makeup done perfectly and hair teased….someone didn’t get the whole “you’re about to run 3 miles” memo…
The Start Line!
It took me 21 minutes to get to this point.
I finished! Now give me some CHOCOLATE!
Official Race Results
So I didn’t achieve my under 34 minute time like I wanted, but having started so far back in the crowd, I got stuck behind tons of people walking and standing in the way. There was also a big hill I had to power walk halfway up because my legs were just not having it. Besides that though, I ran the rest and am proud of myself! It’s still my fastest race time (best in Florida was 39 minutes….turtle-pace)
So what do I have to say to that? Bring on the next race!
And for anyone interested, I will be partaking in the BodyRock.Tv 21 Day Bootcamp Challenge starting today! Join me!
Morning Weight: 145.3
Pounds to Goal: 20.3
Workout: 3.63 mile interval run with baby and pup
Do you ever have one of those days where you start off slow in your workout, but then all of a sudden your body clicks into high gear and cooperates to give you a great workout? I did today! My legs and lungs felt awesome. I was able to run for longer distances without feeling like I wanted to stop, and I even had to shout out an “On Your Left!” to a pedestrian who was standing in the center of the sidewalk we were running on. I’m not going to lie that it made me feel like a “real” runner 😉
Share your successes and make sure to give some feedback for the New Wife Life plans!
Happy 2014 everyone!
Today I wanted to share with you all my New Years Resolutions because they are going to be impacting my blog greatly. I would love to hear about yours as well!
1. Be a Better Friend
2013 was a rough year in terms of relationships, with my husband and I being apart for much of it. Because of that and all of my moving around, I put my friends by the wayside. I found that a piece of me felt empty and it could only be filled by getting more involved with my friends again. They are my strength and support.
2. Be a healthier me
After our wedding, I put aside my healthy lifestyle in favor of one packed more with processed junk than smart choices. I stopped running and sat on my rear more. Because of this I have felt lethargic, irritable, and all around yucky. 2014 will not be a year of fad diets or anything, but a charge back in the right direction.
3. Worry Less, be Thankful More
Between struggles at work in Florida, a cross country move, being apart from family and Jeff, and many other reasons, I nonstop worried most of 2013. This year will be all about appreciating the little things and being thankful for what I do have instead of what I do not. I am very blessed and should reflect on that more often.
With these three resolutions, I am afraid I will be needing to put the blog on the back burner. I want to allocate as much time to friends, health, and living stress-free as I can, therefore suggesting that I cut back partaking in activities that consume time that I can be spending elsewhere.
Now while I will not stop blogging altogether, it will be far less frequently. I will still be posting about our new home (we bought a condo!!) and my “wife life” , but at random intervals.
I appreciate all of your support in this!
Hey guys! Just a short post to tell you there are big things coming our way very very soon. Although we can’t share them with you just yet, after the holiday season is over, we will fill you all in.
In the meantime, I will be taking some time off from blogging to spend some quality time with my amazing husband who actually gets some time off from work. I will be back to it in the new year, but wanted to wish you all a happy, healthy and safe holiday season!
See you next year!
Hey guys! A quick post before I turn in for the evening (or watch some holiday movies under a blanket with my cute hubby 🙂 )
This week has been awesome in terms of my workouts. If you haven’t gone over to BodyRock yet, you are missing out! I have started the 30 day challenge, and while it is kicking my butt, I’m already feeling the results!
My abs aren’t a washboard or anything yet, but I can already feel my energy levels increasing and my general attitude being more positive. It feels great!
45 minutes a day in the comfort or my home jumping around like a maniac has been so much fun!
Go try it now!!!!

Happy Thursday! Here’s an awesome Pinterest DIY craft idea for anyone you know who is coming up on a wedding anniversary or closely approaching their wedding date. This personalized frame is not only a unique wedding present, but also a great reminder and celebration of an anniversary. Surprise a person close to you with this amazing gift!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- An 8×8 square frame (or other square frame)
- Two photo mats (one 6×6, one 5×5)
- Wedding lyrics printed out on a 5×5 piece of cardstock
- Two letter punches (one for the bride, one for the groom)
- One heart punch with the date of the wedding
- Print out your lyrics in a 5×5″ square, making sure to use the “Justify” text setting in Word. Tips for making words fit inside of a shape can be found here.
- Using a die cut machine, cut out the two initials and heart shapes on colored cardstock. Write the wedding date on the heart or use small number stamps for a cleaner look.
- Using glue dots or clear adhesive, adhere the initials and heart onto the printed lyrics page where you see fit; this piece uses the bottom left hand corner.
- In the frame, insert the 6×6″ mat, then layer the 5×5″ mat on top of it. Place the lyrics page onto mats and center. Tape the edges to the mat if necessary.
- Reassemble the frame, wrap in kraft paper and tie with colored string to complete the gift wrapping.
I’m making one for Jeff for our one year anniversary in May. It’s hard to believe that a year ago we were hand-in-hand with all of our family celebrating the beginning of our life together!
