Back to the old format?

Hey y’all! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted since Jeff has recently had some more time at home, so we have been enjoying our newfound quality time by filling our weekends with fun adventures!

Here’s what we’ve been up to (including, but not limited to:) DIY home decor, trying new recipes, starting another blog, celebrating my 27th birthday and our 2nd Anniversary, Jeff getting promoted, and getting ready to travel to Ohio to see family after over a year of being away. All of that looks something like this:

I have also been toying with the idea of going back to my old daily format, but wanted to get as many opinions as I could before I do anything. Before starting my health journey at the beginning of this year, I had a format that looked like this:

Monday: Fashion Feature
Tuesday: Teaching Tips/Nannying/Tuesday Tester
Wednesday: Around the House – DIY ideas or before&afters of our home
Thursday: Pinterest Post
Friday: Fitness Feature
Saturday: What’s on my mind – random thoughts/weekend fun
Sunday: Recipe of the Week

So I need a little input…
what would you like to see on The Wife Life?
Is there a type of article you love? Could you live without one of the suggestions above? Do you want daily posts or just semi-weekly?

send me your ideas in the comments below!!!

Love you guys!!

GWC Day 23 – New Opportunities?

Morning Weight: 145.2
Pounds to Goal: 20.2

Workout: 1 hour walking around the zoo with a baby strapped to my chest + 3 mile walk with the pups after work

So I’ve been looking into many additional work opportunities to help bring in a little more “fun money” for Jeff and I to be able to travel home more often and enjoy our time to the fullest here in SoCal. I follow the Shaytards vlog on YouTube (they ROCK, by the way!) and in this video, Shay and his wife, Colette, share their success story of becoming debt free and switching work to something that they love.

Since I already know that my career passions are with teaching, but my opportunities are limited here in San Diego, and I’m enjoying nannying for now, I’m looking into monetizing my blog. I know it will make for a long process and lots of hard work and dedication, but I think it could ultimately lead to a solid (albeit small) income that can move with us while we are still within Jeff’s Navy career.

Now what I’d love from all of you, is some feedback.

What kinds of things do you love reading about on The Wife Life?

Are you enjoying the daily recounts of my health or would you like more in depth workouts to follow along with me?

Or maybe you’re all like, “Lisa, I’m happy that you’re trying to be healthy, but give me more of those Chocolate Chess Pie recipes!”

Are you a fan of the DIY and Pinterest projects that I do around here? Then shout it from the rooftops!!!

I’d love to get as much feedback as I can before I start morphing The Wife Life into something much bigger and better for you guys!!

P.S. Today officially marks the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of The Wife Life!!! Eeeeeekkkk!!!! So exciting!! I love you guys, for real 🙂

Exploring New Cities, Making New Friends

I’ve noticed some things over the past four years when it comes to living in three different regions of the country. Every area of the continental US has their own quirks and varieties of people. Some good, some bad, some just different.

Here are the awesome things about the regions I have lived in:

Everyone is friendly regardless of where you’ve come from. From the South? They like you. From the West Coast? They like you. In the Midwest, you are family. Family is the number one priority and everyone is invited for dinner. I miss that.

The South

Yes, Sir. No, Ma’am. I used to cringe at the idea of being called ma’am, but now I understand the air of respect behind the words. My kids will use these terms. It’s just polite!

The West Coast

No one is in a hurry. People let you onto the highway when you put your blinker on. Everyone smiles at you as they pass you in the Market. Families welcome you into their home when you’re just a friend of their family’s. I love this place!

I’ve found that making friends is amazing in each area of the country, though. San Diego (besides my home state of Ohio) is my favorite place to make new friends. I can honestly say in the 7.2 days I have been here, I have been greeted by nothing less than smiles from everyone I’ve encountered.

It’s hard moving so much and having to make new friends, but I have high hopes that this new place will be nothing but a perfect time to visit with old friends and make new ones as well.

I can’t wait to meet the people that I will call my close friends for the next few years and beyond! If any of you are in San Diego, let me know and maybe we can be blogger-nerds together and meet up sometime!

Getting ready for the move!

Guess what guys?! I’m moving in 4 days and I got a new iPad!!! Jeff and I talked about it and we decided after my living situation and circumstances from the past six months, and the fact that ill be traveling and can keep in contact with him/family while in transit, I could get the iPad I’ve been drooling over for the past two years!! Whoa, run on sentence! Sorry! I’m just so excited!!

Anyhow, I have been busy packing and organizing the past few days and have realized a few things:

1. I have So. Much. Stuff! It never seems like a lot in the grand scheme of an empty apartment, but loading into my car will have to be strategic. I made a map. Seriously! Look!

2. I couldn’t throw away Atlas’s old, ripped up toys without tearing up a bit…so I kept little tokens of each to put in a small shadowbox when we get to Cali. Rest in Pieces little toys!

P.S. I couldn’t bear to get rid of this little guy…Puffin was his very first toy!

3. I’m getting really good at logistics in plastic bins. When I moved into this apartment, all four were filled with stuff. Now I’m down to two; partially because I purged some things, partially because I’m becoming a packing Ninja!

4. I’m really excited about having an iPad because that means I can take more photos and videos during the trip and share them with you guys!! Yippee!!!
